You can link your portfolio regardless of which broker you use. The only differences are the individual options for connecting your portfolio. There are three possibilities to link your portfolio:
  • Open Banking connection through finAPI
  • PDF import
  • Manual import
A connection via Open Banking is possible without much operational effort, whereas with the PDF import the statements of the individual transactions must first be downloaded, but can then be imported jointly. With manual import, the transactions must be entered individually. You can find more information about which broker offers which import option in the following article: https://app.getquin.com/learn/which-brokers-are-supported-by-getquin/
Automatic integration of the savings plans is only possible via Open Banking interface. Here the data of the savings plan is updated and transferred via finAPI. Of course, you also have the option to regularly update your savings plan via PDF import. A manual entry of a regular execution of a savings plan is in principle also possible, but makes little sense. By manual entry we do not know which broker has bought at which price. This in turn can lead to large differences and your portfolio would not show you a correct value.
A faulty import can be cause by various factors:

Not every broker can be connected via Open Banking. Please have a look at our article and check if your broker is included

In case of an Open Banking connection, it is important to store your PIN when initially connecting your portfolio. This storage is necessary to be able to update your portfolio on a daily basis. If this checkbox is not set, your account will be updated only once during the upload. With a saved PIN, your portfolio will update daily until the verification of your broker has to be renewed. This can happen after 2 days or 90 days at the latest. Learn more:

A failed PDF import. This can happen for a variety of reasons. If an import was incorrect, it can be corrected or adjusted manually in most cases without any problems. To do this, you will find the “Edit“ button in the respective portfolio (but not in the aggregated view) under “Transactions”. Here you can manually adjust each of your transactions in terms of price, number of units and purchase date. You also have the option to remove it completely. Learn more:

If you have linked your portfolio via Open Banking and saved your pin, it will be updated four times a day.
If you have linked your account via Open Banking, the problem occurs if you have not saved the PIN when setting up the connection.
If you have an Open Banking connection, it is possible that certain positions from your portfolio, which were added manually, are incorrectly shown as sold. If you want to add positions that are not added via the Open Banking connection, because they are not part of your portfolio at the respective bank, you have to create a second, new portfolio. You can create another portfolio in the “Portfolio“ tab in the upper right corner under “connect/create“. You then select “Yes“ for the first question, but skip the bank selection in the next step and select “Add manually“. Once you have done this and added the desired positions manually, you will still have an overview of everything under “Aggregated“.
The API is not able to capture and transmit purchase data from the past. Due to the fact that we do not get all of the data of past purchases because of the API, we are forced to estimate your purchase date. Therefore, we may not always be correct and you will need to manually adjust your transactions. The API is not able to capture and transmit purchase data from the past.
